At OPEN peer researchers have been working with two professional researchers, Amy Calder and Jennifer Russel, to guide us on how to gather the data we needed and how to conduct research. This model has been used from the beginning of our Peer Research projects and gives the community a direct link to academic researchers.
Peer Research team members can gain a variety of skills and even a qualification!
The Skills you can gain include:
- Setting core questions and planning research engagement
- Helping plan and deliver focus groups
- Facilitation methods
- Group work
- Learn about ethics
- Conduct analysis
- Presenting skills
You can also complete your participative democracy certificate as a Peer Researcher, this an SCQF level 5 qualification and can be done alongside you attending peer research team meetings.
