From all of OPEN’s previous peer research, a lack of options and opportunities has been highlighted. The Aspirations, Interests, and Creative Pursuits project aims to understand what opportunities young people in Shetland feel would enrich their lives. This might include leisure or outdoor activities, creative pursuits, hangouts, or other interests. We want participants to explore how they balance their activities and understand their motivations for participating in leisure activities in Shetland. Using various research methods, we seek insight into the opportunities for enjoyment, learning, and personal growth that young people desire. Additionally, we want to understand what motivates participation in activities and what discourages continued involvement or joining new activities.
